Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has alleged that the state govt, which had promised farmers ownership rights over assigned lands after coming to power, is now acquiring their lands for industrial purposes. He said most of the victims were Dalits and tribals.Addressing party workers in Parigi town, the BRS working president said that in Parigi too, the Congress govt was taking over lands, and he referred to Lagacherla, where he alleged that poor tribals’ lands were acquired for industrial purposes.“Simply because people refused to give up their lands, the Revanth Reddy govt filed police cases against them, had them attacked, and subjected them to harassment. Tribal youth were jailed. Even when one of them suffered a heart attack, he was allegedly denied proper treatment and paraded in handcuffs,” he said.The BRS would not allow what it called the reckless takeover of assigned lands from the poor in the Parigi constituency, KTR said, adding that the party would stand firmly with vulnerable families. He said that if the govt was truly sincere, it should first issue proper land titles, provide fair compensation, and acquire land only with the consent of farmers.
