Vadodara: The city unit of the Congress Party on Friday staged protests against the suspension of seven of its councillors from the budget meeting of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) general board.The councillors were suspended on Wednesday following a ruckus that erupted after they alleged they were not given sufficient time to speak.Congress members protested at the Khanderao Market crossroads near the VMC headquarters, while also criticising the budget, claiming it was being used to project promises that were never fulfilled.City unit president Rutvij Joshi said the party’s councillors may have been silenced inside the board, but they would continue raising their voices outside. Chandrakant Shrivastav, leader of the party in VMC, added that while promises were made to make the city world-class, citizens continued to face daily hardships.
