Congress leader Chenthi Anil was arrested for allegedly blocking Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan’s convoy.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader Chenthi Anil has been arrested for allegedly blocking the convoy of Kerala chief minister VD Satheesan in Thiruvananthapuram, news agency PTI reported.The incident occurred on Friday evening when Satheesan was on his way to attend a programme held to mark the birth anniversary of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.According to the police remand report, Anil allegedly obstructed the chief minister’s convoy with the intention of insulting him. The police also said his actions interfered with the official duties of the Chief Minister and the personnel accompanying him.The report further noted that several cases have previously been registered against Anil at Sreekaryam, Thumba and Medical College police stations. Police have also listed him as a rowdy-sheeter.Meanwhile, Satheesan on Saturday criticised Penguin Random House India over its reported decision concerning Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s memoir.Taking to X, Satheesan said, “A publishing house that compromises its spine compromises democracy itself. The decision by Penguin Random House India regarding Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji’s memoir, is deeply concerning. When a global publisher can release a book worldwide in its original form, why the sudden urge to censor and edit facts in India?”The Kerala chief minister alleged that the publisher’s decision raised serious concerns and accused the Central government of creating an atmosphere of intimidation.
