In a surprising move, seasoned Congress leader Yogendra Saw has been handed a three-year expulsion due to his outspoken remarks against Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the state administration.

Ranchi: Former minister and senior Congress member Yogendra Saw was expelled from the party for three years on Friday for his criticism of chief minister Hemant Soren and the JMM-Congress-RJD coalition govt. The action comes a day after the Hazaribag administration demolished his Joradag bungalow in the NTPC command area for expansion of the PSU’s Chatti Bariatu coal mining project in Keredari block. However, Saw accused the PSU, administration and govt of duping those who gave up their land and inadequate compensation.Jharkhand Congress’s media committee chairman Satish Paul Munjini said, “The party’s disciplinary committee has taken strong objection to Yogendra Sawji’s continuous objectionable and undisciplined remarks against the current coalition govt and CM through his social media handles. Recently, he also made inappropriate statements against the govt through social media.”Saw’s daughter and former Barkagaon MLA, Amba Prasad, had termed Thursday’s action unjust and accused the administration and state govt of wrongdoing.Saw claimed that the house was demolished without provding him proper compensation. Taking to social media on Thursday, Saw wrote, “When the protectors themselves become predators, where should the common public go? Now change is necessary! The corrupt looters hiding behind uniforms have turned Jharkhand into a grazing ground. Police stations are no longer temples of justice; they have become extortion dens. From top to bottom, everyone is sold out.”NTPC officials, on the other hand, claimed that Saw was asked to accept the compensation, assessed by the buildings division, for the structures on the land in the past. But when he didn’t accept the compensation despite repeated notices, the company deposited Rs 1.97 crore with state govt in June last year.
