Nagpur: Alleging prolonged neglect and administrative apathy, Congress corporators from Prabhag 8 have approached Union minister Nitin Gadkari, seeking urgent intervention to expedite pending infrastructure work between Kadbi Chowk and Golibar Chowk. The delegation led by corporator Wasim Khan and comprising Siraj Ahmed Ansari, Syed Muskan, and Sayyeda Begum Nizamuddin Ansari submitted a memorandum highlighting that road construction beneath the bridge from Moti Bagh to Mominpura and Golibar Chowk has remained incomplete for years, causing severe inconvenience to commuters. They also flagged significant delays in the railway overbridge (ROB) project. Gadkari had performed the bhoomi puja for the 2.82km, Rs146 crore two-lane ROB in mid-2021. The project, assigned to Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MahaRail), was scheduled for completion by December 2022 but remains unfinished.According to the corporators, the delay has worsened conditions on the ground. Incomplete RCC drainage work has led to waterlogging and foul odour along several stretches, while traffic congestion has intensified, turning the corridor into a major bottleneck. They warned that stagnant water and poor sanitation pose serious health risks, particularly during the monsoon, even as residents continue to grapple with deteriorating roads and traffic snarls.Criticising poor coordination and lack of accountability, the corporators demanded time-bound completion of the ROB, road, and drainage works. They urged Gadkari to intervene and direct authorities to expedite the project, stressing the need for immediate relief on this crucial route.
