Nagpur: A 32-year-old man, Roshan Shingare, resident of Jay Nagar in Pandhrabodi, under Ambazari police station limits, died on Monday under mysterious circumstances at his home. Family members suspected foul play and alleged involvement of Roshan’s wife Pragya in the crime.According to preliminary information, Roshan has been unwell for the past few days. Still, he used to consume liquor at home. Police stated Pragya rushed Roshan to Mayo Hospital as he was not responding to her repeated attempts to wake him up. The doctors of Mayo Hospital declared him dead.Relatives accused Pragya of assaulting Roash, which they claim led to his death. The body has been sent for postmortem. Currently, an accidental death (AD) report has been registered, and further action will be taken based on the autopsy report.Family members said that the couple often used to fight. The kin have alleged that Pragya had smashed a liquor bottle on Roshan’s head during a quarrel in September last year, causing bleeding. Following the incident, Pragya was charged with an attempt to murder, and was arrested by the Ambazari police. She even spent time in jail following the incident, family members claimed.Police sources revealed that both Roshan and Pragya were addicted to liquor and worked as petty labourers to earn their livelihood. The couple reportedly had a history of frequent violent altercations while intoxicated.Family members of the deceased have demanded a thorough investigation. Senior police officials from Ambazari police station stated that they are awaiting the postmortem report. “We have registered the death as an accidental case for now, but if the autopsy indicates any foul play or injury consistent with assault, appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including those related to culpable homicide or murder, will be invoked,” a police officer said.
