Kanpur: The Congress party staged a unique protest over severe waterlogging in the city after rainfall.Congress functionary Vikas Awasthi and his supporters were seen navigating through inundated streets in a bathtub repurposed as a boat in South Kanpur area.They held the govt responsible for its failure in addressing the rainwater drainage issue causing waterlogging in many localities. They claimed that the conditions had not improved despite the chief minister’s prior warnings.Protesters were seated inside a bathtub with Congress party flags as makeshift oars to navigate the flooded streets.They accused the municipal corporation of making insincere promises regarding rain preparedness and called for an immediate assessment of the flooded areas to establish effective drainage systemsThe heavy downpour, which lasted merely 30 minutes, led to flooding of many streets. Commuters found themselves stranded, and water infiltrated local businesses and residences.
