Deputy Leader of Opposition Ramkesh Meena

Jaipur: Deputy Leader of Opposition Ramkesh Meena Saturday wrote a letter to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, accusing the Karauli police of selective actions in the ongoing Panchana dam water dispute. Meena claimed that police have filed cases against farmers from the command area only, despite inflammatory social media posts allegedly made by individuals from both sides of the conflict. He expressed concerns that this bias was undermining public trust and social harmony. In his letter, Meena emphasised the need for impartial enforcement of the law, stating, “The police should take equal action against all those responsible, irrespective of which side they belong to.”The dispute centres on farmers’ demands for the release of dam water into the canal network, as per a Rajasthan High Court order. He wrote that despite peaceful protests and promises from the administration, water was not yet released.Meena also criticised the govt’s failure to act after a visit from state ministers on July 6, who directed officials to open dam gates. “Despite claims that all gates were operational, technical failures prevented water from reaching the canals, leaving farmers feeling deceived,” he asserted, calling for urgent intervention to restore peace in the region.
