Gurgaon: An MCG gunman has alleged that a man drove an earthmover towards him after another man damaged a temporary iron barricade on vacant MCG land in Nathupur on Oct 1. An FIR was registered against the two men on Monday, police said.Harjinder Singh, a resident of Hasanpur Kalan in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district, works as an MCG gunman with a sanitation security force team and was deployed to prevent illegal dumping of debris, garbage and other material on the civic body’s land.According to Singh’s complaint, a temporary iron barricade had been installed on vacant MCG land earmarked for a community centre near Bhairav Mandir in Nathupur. On Oct 1, a guard, Kamal, informed him that an earthmover operator had damaged the barricading and driven towards the hill.Singh said he and Kamal went to the spot, where they found an earthmover. The driver identified himself as Salim, according to the complaint.When Singh questioned Salim about the damaged barricading, another man arrived in a Thar. Singh told police that the man said they had damaged the barricading and challenged them to take whatever action they could.The man then allegedly told Salim to drive the earthmover towards Singh and Kamal. When the driver did not do so, the man allegedly took control of the machine himself and drove it towards Singh.Singh told police that he moved aside to avoid being hit and alleged that the earthmover could have run him over had he not moved in time. The men then allegedly left the spot with the earthmover and the Thar.Singh identified the man as Harsh Gujjar, saying he had disclosed his name at the spot. He also said Rahul, a clerk, and Kamal were present during the incident and that the entire incident was captured on video.Singh lodged a formal complaint at DLF Phase 3 police station on Oct 2. ASI Virender, accompanied by a constable and Singh, subsequently visited the spot to conduct an inquiry.A case was subsequently registered on Monday under sections 221 (voluntarily obstructing a public servant while they are performing official duties), 351(3) (aggravated criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (act done by several persons) of BNS, along with Section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.“The complaint concerns the alleged damaging of public property and the alleged use of an earthmover to drive towards an MCG employee during the confrontation. The investigation will establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and the role of the persons named in the complaint,” a police officer said.
