During a recent tour of Rajiv Nagar and Anandpuri, Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emphasized the urgency of completing ongoing drainage projects. His directive to officials highlighted the importance of addressing waterlogging issues and improving transportation with newly constructed roads over reinforced drains.

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday inspected the ongoing construction of the Rajiv Nagar and the Anandpuri drainage projects. He asked the officials concerned to expedite the work and ensure early completion.During the inspection, the CM said under these projects the drains are being concretised and roads are being constructed over both drains.“Upon completion of these projects, the problem of waterlogging will be resolved, and the 2-lane road construction over these drains will provide smooth transportation facilities to people. The city will also look clean and organised,” Nitish said.He recalled reviewing development works in Patna district during his ‘Pragati Yatra’ on Feb 21, 2025, when several projects were announced.“At the same time, I inspected the Anandpuri drainage and Rajiv Nagar drainage. A large number of local people were also present during the inspection. Looking at their problems, I directed that these drains should be repaired and roads should be constructed over them so that people have convenience in commuting. I am happy that work is being done on both the projects,” the CM said.“The Rajiv Nagar drainage system is an important drain for water drainage in the state capital. Its length is 4.26km, which starts from Digha-Ashiana Road and ends at Kurji drainage pumping station. The Rajiv Nagar drainage system is being concretised and a road is being constructed over it,” a communiqué issued by the CMO said.“Similarly, the Anandpuri drainage is an important drain for water drainage in the state capital. Its length is approximately 4km, which starts from Baba Chowk and ends at the Rajapur Pul drainage pumping station while passing near Atal Path and the A N College. The Anandpuri drainage is being concretised and a road is being constructed over it,” the CMO said.CM’s secretary Kumar Ravi, special duty officer Gopal Singh, Patna divisional commissioner Animesh Parasar, Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner Yashpal Meena, DM Thiyagrajan SM, SSP Kartikeya K Sharma and other senior officials were present.
