Pune: Residents of Salunke Vihar Road and Wanowrie have urged Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to expedite road repairs after several stretches milled for resurfacing have been left unattended to, causing inconvenience and posing a risk to commuters.They said the uneven surfaces are hazardous for two-wheeler riders because the roads are open to traffic even though contractors have not completed the resurfacing.Salunke Vihar resident Mazhar Chaudhary said, “Once a road is scraped, resurfacing should be immediate instead of leaving the uneven surface open to traffic.”Dinesh Kumar, who runs a paan shop on the road connecting Kedari petrol pump to Salunke Vihar Road, said the stretch outside his shop was scraped two to three days ago but no resurfacing was carried out.“The road was badly damaged and riddled with potholes. The civic body may have milled it for permanent repairs instead of filling potholes temporarily, but the work should be taken up on priority as the uneven surface is a problem for daily commuters,” he said.While repairs have been completed on some stretches, like the one near the petrol pump, residents said several portions remain unattended to.PMC officials said road repairs are across the city are reviewed daily. They will be completed before Ganeshotsav on Monday.“Since repairs are carried out at multiple locations simultaneously, some patches may take a day or two to be completed. The concerned officials will be directed to ensure that the pending stretches which have been milled are repaired on priority,” Rajesh Bankar, chief engineer in PMC’s road department, said.
