Rajkot: A 48-year-old garage worker, Charan Singh, was allegedly stabbed to death by a colleague near Tajpar Circle in Botad on Tuesday.Police arrested Gurpreet Singh alias Gogi Matu, 42, within hours of the killing and recovered the knife used.According to the complaint filed by one Imran Shah, 36, who runs an auto parts shop, the accused ran a small workshop in the same compound, for eight years. Charan Singh, Harpreet Singh and others worked there as mechanics and regularly bought spare parts from Shah’s shop.About seven days ago, Gurpreet Singh had placed Harpreet Singh’s mobile phone inside Charan Singh’s bag. An argument broke out between Harpreet Singh and Gurpreet Singh. Shah said he intervened and helped calm the situation.On Tuesday evening, while Shah was at his shop, Harpreet Singh allegedly called him and said that Gurpreet Singh, bearing a grudge over the phone incident, had stabbed Charan Singh. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Investigation officer N V Vasava said Gurpreet Singh and Charan Singh were from Moga district in Punjab.
