Coimbatore: A couple was sentenced to life imprisonment on Friday, for murdering a man near Sulur in Coimbatore district in 2023.The convicts P Govindaraj, 44, and G Thamarai, 40, of Arasur, had murdered Rangasamy, of Arasur, following an altercation.On April 1, 2023, Rangasamy who was intoxicated, went to Govindaraj’s house and misbehaved with his wife. She informed her husband, after which the couple went to Rangasamy’s house, and questioned him. An argument broke out between them resulting in an altercation. Govindaraj then hit Rangasamy on his head with a wooden log, causing fatal injuries.Sulur police registered a murder case and arrested the couple. The trial was held before the additional district court V, and judge P K Shivakumar pronounced the verdict.
