Mumbai: The Cockroach Janta Party‘s ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ event in Mumbai on Friday drew around 50 supporters, who assembled at South Mumbai’s Azad Maidan, the designated protest site.

Unlike Delhi Police, authorities in Mumbai had granted CJP permission to hold the protest for a day at Azad Maidan.

Lawyer Prashant Bhushan‘s call for a “regime change” hung heavy as Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, as well as those participating in the protest, touched on the remark.

Addressing the gathering, MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande said, “While we want change, the change will be done by getting votes… The more you try to suppress the protest, the more the protest will grow.”

Social activist Anjali Damania, who also participated in the protest, said the fight was not against any person or party, but over how democracy was being destroyed in the country.

Meanwhile, Fadnavis, while speaking at a programme in Mumbai, said, “Someone has said that the fight will be fought on the streets, and now there would be a regime change. I want to tell them that till Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution is there, decisions will be made in Parliament and the regime would be changed only through the elections.
