Mangaluru: An Indian spectacled cobra that got trapped in the blade of a grass-cutting machine at a house in Anantadi village of Bantwal taluk was rescued by snake rescuer Tejas Puttur after a two-hour operation on Monday.The incident occurred at the house of Purushotham Gowda. The family stored eggs in a bucket and placed the blade of a grass-cutting machine over it. The cobra was suspected of entering the bucket in an attempt to eat the eggs and got entangled in the blade.Tejas Puttur, popularly known as Snake Tejas, carried out the rescue in the presence of forest department staff member Dayanand. After the reptile was freed, it was given first aid. As the cobra sustained minor injuries, it will be kept under observation for two days before being released into the wild, said Tejas.In a separate incident, Tejas also rescued a porcupine that fell into an under-construction well containing around 10ft of water at Kedila Puttur. The animal was later released into the wild. It was suspected that the porcupine fell into the well on Saturday. The locals hoped that the porcupine would climb out of the well and left support for it. Deputy range forest officer Ullas, along with staff members, was present during the rescue.
