Coach Throws Itself a Birthday Party for Spring 2027

What’s the best way a brand can celebrate its 85th anniversary? According to Coach, with lots of party hats and sequins. On Wednesday evening, guests walked into a spacious, dimly lit venue at New York City’s Pier 36 for Coach’s Spring 2027 show and were greeted with small tables of olives, breadsticks and glasses of wine. Then came the show, which was a love letter to Coach.

“[The collection] is ultimately about love,” Creative Director Stuart Vevers told press backstage after the show. “The song title at the end is ‘Love Is the Message,’ and I wanted to show the things that I love about Coach in its 85th birthday year. It made me think about celebrations, like amazing birthdays or my wedding.”

The first few models walked out in primarily neutral attire, like grey-and-black monochrome suiting and dark knits. Eventually, pops of color — gold, soft pinks and butter yellow — crept into the lineup, followed by the closing looks: head-to-toe sequin dresses and maxi skirt sets. As always, accessories were a highlight of the collection, with this season’s offerings including updated versions of the Turnlock Tote Bag, gift boxes reimagined as purses and leather birthday hats.

“Even though it was an 85th anniversary celebration, it’s not a retrospective collection,” Vevers said. “It’s not looking back, really. There are references to Coach in there, but I thought the best way to celebrate this anniversary was actually to look forward.”

For the finale, curtains behind the runway rose to reveal string musicians performing; a disco ball dropped; and confetti fell around the venue. As the models returned for the final walkthrough, eight voguing dancers joined them down the runway. It was the perfect transition for guests to go to Coach Club 65, the afterparty held immediately after the show wrapped.
