Varanasi: Padari police in Mirzapur district arrested Ajay Bind (20), accused of murder of a minor girl, near Baudari hill, early Monday morning. Bind had accompanied his friend Sajan alias Rajan to meet the latter’s 15-year-old girlfriend and attempted to rape her on Saturday night. Failing in his bid, Bind and Sajan killed her by strangulating her with a scarf and hammering her with a heavy stone. Sanjan was arrested on Sunday.Mirzapur SP Aparna Rajat Kaushik said police were on the lookout for Bind across the district. Late Sunday night, Padari police received inputs about movement of Bind on motorcycle towards Gauraraj village and to intercept him, they cordoned Baudri Pahadi area.Finding himself surrounded, Bind opened fire at policemen and in retaliatory firing by police suffered bullet injury in the leg and was caught. After recovering a country-made firearm, cartridges, motorcycle, mobile phone and scarf used for killing the girl, police rushed him to hospital.During interrogation, Bind confessed that on the girls refusal to have sex with him, both of them strangulated her and and struck her with a stone. They disposed of the body in a field and fled the scene. Bind was at his home but when he came to know that Sajan had been arrested and had told police about his involvement, he decided to leave the district.
