New Delhi: Owners of CNG-run vehicles will be denied fuel if they don’t have a valid hydro-test certificate, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) said on Wednesday.IGL said it is conducting a special safety drive across all its CNG stations, with staff at fuel pumps verifying the validity of hydro-test certificates before dispensing fuel to ensure compliance with safety requirements.“CNG will not be dispensed if a valid hydro-test certificate is not available in the vehicle. Customers are requested to get their CNG cylinders tested on time and always carry the valid certificate in the vehicle,” the company said in a statement.The move comes days after the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) issued directions in this regard. Under Rule 35(1) of the Gas Cylinder Rules, 2025, every CNG cylinder must undergo a hydrotest once every three years at a PESO-approved cylinder testing centre.PESO directed stringent safety enforcement at CNG stations across Delhi-NCR following a recent cylinder blast that killed three people and injured two at a retail outlet in the capital last month. The advisory is aimed at preventing untoward incidents by tightening on-ground checks.PESO has also instructed all city gas distribution companies to prominently display safety signage at CNG outlets and ensure that fuel is dispensed only to cylinders that meet approved standards and have a valid hydro-test certificate.
