Kolkata: CM Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday announced an infrastructure and security overhaul and upgrade blueprint for the coastal areas of Digha, Mandarmani, Tajpur, Shankarpur and Udaypur.Adhikari said that the existing Rs 10 tourist subscription fee will be withdrawn from July 1. “I feel that taking Rs 10 from those who are paying income-tax and GST is highly objectionable,” he said.The CM stressed the “lack of basic hospital services” and said that to enhance beach safety for the lakhs of tourists, the number of nulias (traditional lifeguards) will be significantly increased.Adhikari said a Mumbai-style Marine Drive will be developed and a deep-sea port at Dadanpatrabar have been planned. “There is 1,700 acres of land,” the CM said, adding that the administration will also expedite land acquisition for the Nandakumar-Digha double railway line.
