CM Hemant Soren inaugurates the meet in Delhi on Wednesday

Ranchi: Presenting the ‘Vision 2050’ to woo investors, chief minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday stressed that Jharkhand should be known not only for its mines but also for its minds, underscoring the push to transform the state into a hub for technology, innovation and knowledge-driven growth.Addressing policymakers, industry leaders, technology experts, academics and representatives from leading global technology companies at the inauguration of a two-day ‘National Stakeholders’ Consultation’ in New Delhi, Hemant said, “The state’s identity must extend beyond resources to research, beyond extraction to innovation, and beyond growth to broad-based, inclusive and sustainable development.”Emphasising the need to diversify the economic base, the CM said that while Jharkhand is rich in natural resources, equal importance must be given to research, innovation and the development of a knowledge-based economy. He said, “The convergence of the state’s traditional knowledge systems with modern technology would drive the development of both Jharkhand and the country.”The consultation focused on information technology, artificial intelligence (AI), digital governance and emerging technologies as key pillars of the state’s long-term vision. Representatives from Microsoft, Google and IBM shared suggestions on strengthening Jharkhand’s digital ecosystem, attracting investments and preparing for future industries.During the event, the govt presented concept papers on the proposed Jharkhand AI Policy, Investment Promotion Policy, Tourism Policy, Textile Policy, JIADA regulations and PPP (public-private partnership) Policy. Stakeholders were invited to provide feedback to make the policies more industry-friendly and future-ready.A business-to-govt interaction was also held to explore investment opportunities and partnerships in sectors such as AI, IT and digital governance.Hemant reiterated the govt’s commitment to creating a policy environment that promotes investment, generates employment and ensures inclusive growth. He said, “Stakeholder consultations would play a crucial role in shaping Jharkhand’s Vision 2050 road map.”Senior cabinet ministers, chief secretary Avinash Kumar, development commissioner Ajoy Kumar Singh, senior officials and industry representatives attended the programme.
