Panaji: Govt has formed the board of directors of the Goa State Poultry Development Corporation (GSPDC), with chief minister Pramod Sawant as its chairperson. A notification issued by the directorate of animal husbandry and veterinary services on Monday said the board has been constituted with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.Besides senior govt officials, the board includes representatives of poultry farmers, traders and shopkeepers’ associations. The managing director of Goa Meat Complex, Dr Rajesh Kenny, has been appointed as the Chief executive officer.The corporation will engage in poultry farming, set up breeder units and hatcheries on purchased or leased land. It will also manufacture, procure and market feed additives, medicines and other raw materials through individual, contract, and community-driven initiatives.It will also be involved in the procurement, distribution and marketing of poultry products, including live birds, dressed and processed chicken, eggs, and ready-to-eat items, through a network of registered traders, distributors and corporation-approved outlets.The poultry corporation will implement the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) Guidelines for Poultry/Birds Facility, 2020, and adopt its directions to educate poultry traders to regularise the trade in Goa.
