Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Monday urged defence minister Rajnath Singh to relocate areas under the military in the capital city of Panaji so that state govt could use that area for public purposes, such as parking.Sawant arrived in Delhi on Sunday night and held hectic meetings with different Union ministers. He asked them to establish the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) to increase agricultural exports from Goa.Sawant met and interacted with Union commerce minister Piyush Goyal on strengthening export support for Goa.During his meeting with Singh, the CM discussed key issues, including the early operationalisation of the HEMRO unit in Goa. “We demanded the relocation of the Panaji military and dental hospitals to facilitate public use of the existing space, and the proposal for sanctioning one sainik school in the state,” Sawant said.Former chief minister Manohar Parrikar wanted to relocate areas under the military from Panaji, but even after becoming a defence minister, he failed to put the areas to public use.
