Gorakhpur: CM Yogi Adityanath on Monday inaugurated a modern computer laboratory at Digvijaynath PG College here, saying it will play a key role in promoting emerging technologies, research and innovation among students. The facility has been set up by the family of former faculty member Tej Pratap Shahi in his memory. Addressing the gathering, the CM said the lab would significantly enhance students’ access to advanced learning tools and help them stay aligned with evolving technological trends.He said the initiative would keep Shahi’s legacy alive for generations. He described the late professor, fondly known as Bachcha Babu, as a dedicated academician and a senior member of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, whose contributions to education and society were noteworthy. Recalling Shahi’s deep association with the Gorakshapeeth, CM said despite being a Congress leader, Shahi remained deeply devoted to the ideals of Peeth and stood firmly with Mahant Avaidyanath even in challenging times.Sharing a personal anecdote, Yogi said Shahi had met him in Lucknow in July 2020 along with his sons, expressing a sense of premonition. “A week later, I learned he had contracted Covid-19. Soon after, he passed away,” the CM said.Earlier, Shahi’s family members, including Ananya Shahi and Atirek Shahi, welcomed the chief minister. College principal Prof Om Prakash Singh delivered the vote of thanks. Several dignitaries, including local public representatives and officials, were present on the occasion.
