Srinagar, Aug 03: Ahead of the 80th Independence Day on August 15, 2026, the Jammu and Kashmir government has finalised arrangements for the celebrations, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah set to preside over the main function at Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium and take the salute.

According to an official order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), J&K, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary will lead the celebrations at the Jammu district headquarters.

Minister for Health and Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare Minister, Sakeena Masood (Itoo) will preside over the function in Anantnag, while Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology, Environment and Tribal Affairs Minister Javed Ahmed Rana will take the salute in Poonch.

Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Departments Minister Javid Ahmad Dar will lead the celebratory function in Baramulla, whereas Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports and ARI & Trainings Minister Satish Sharma will preside over the celebrations in Kathua.

Chief Minister’s Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani will take the salute at the district-level function in Kupwara.

Meanwhile, the respective Deputy Commissioners will preside over Independence Day functions in the remaining district headquarters.

At the sub-divisional level, the celebrations will be led by the respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates, while Tehsildars or the senior-most civil officers will preside over functions at tehsil, block and municipal headquarters as decided by the concerned Deputy Commissioners.
