Srinagar, Aug 10 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday congratulated artisan weavers Manzoor Ahmad Hajam and Fayaz Ahmad Wani for receiving the prestigious National Handloom Award from the President of India.
The two artisans were recognised for their exceptional craftsmanship in weaving the traditional Chanddar Kani Shawl, an intricate handloom craft associated with Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage.
In a post on X, Office of CM posted, “The Chief Minister said that the Government remains committed to empowering local artisans, preserving traditional heritage and promoting indigenous crafts on national and global platforms.”
