Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Monday launched and laid the foundation stone for 326 development projects worth Rs 1,902 crore across tribal-dominated districts and announced a special campaign to grant individual and community forest rights titles to tribal families living in forest areas.Addressing a public gathering at Beneshwar Dham on Tribal Pride Day, Sharma said the tribal community’s contribution to Rajasthan’s development was “invaluable” and reaffirmed the state govt’s commitment to improving livelihoods, creating jobs for tribal youth and promoting tribal handicrafts.The projects cover Banswara, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Salumber and Sirohi.Sharma said the forest rights titles would be entered in revenue records, allowing beneficiaries to access govt schemes and bank loans.“The tribal community is known for its rich traditions, unique culture and deep connection with nature. The development of the country and the state is possible only with their active participation,” Sharma said.He said the govt was taking several steps for the welfare and empowerment of tribal communities and announced plans for the comprehensive development and beautification of Beneshwar Dham, a major spiritual centre for tribal communities in Rajasthan. A detailed project report is being prepared.Highlighting traditional crafts, Sharma said tribal handicrafts are an important expression of tribal identity and pride.“Our traditional crafts such as Pithora paintings, bamboo weaving, pottery and wood carving are priceless cultural heritage. The govt is committed to ensuring artisans receive recognition and fair value for their work,” he said.Sharma also paid tribute to tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared the celebration of Tribal Pride Year during Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary.He said 530 Van Dhan Development Centres had been set up in eight districts, benefiting more than 150,000 tribal women through forest produce-based livelihood opportunities.Sharma also announced plans for a Rs 100 crore Tribal Tourism Circuit linking Tripura Sundari Temple, Mangarh Dham, Beneshwar Dham, Sitamata Sanctuary, Rishabhdev, Gautameshwar Temple and Matri Kundiya.
