Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday inspected the site proposed for Maa Thawe Medical College and Hospital at Chanave village in Gopalganj district and directed officials to expedite all formalities for the project.Officials briefed him on land availability, approach roads, basic infrastructure and other requirements for construction of the medical college and hospital on 25.20 acres. They also presented details of the proposed facility and its construction plan.Choudhary directed officials to complete all necessary procedures at the earliest and ensure time-bound progress of the project. He said the medical college and hospital would strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Gopalganj and neighbouring districts and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the region for treatment.Food and consumer protection minister Ashok Choudhary, education minister Mithilesh Tiwari and rural works minister Sunil Kumar accompanied him during the inspection.Earlier in the day, Choudhary and his cabinet colleagues offered prayers at the Maa Thawe Mandir amid Vedic chants. Speaking to journalists later, he said he had prayed for the happiness, peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Bihar.Officials said the tourism department is implementing a project worth about Rs 28 crore for the overall development of the temple complex.Located about 6km from Gopalganj town on the Gopalganj-Siwan highway, the Maa Thawe temple is one of Bihar’s prominent religious centres and attracts devotees from across the state as well as neighbouring Uttar Pradesh and Nepal.
