Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay handed over appointment orders to 80 candidates selected through the TNPSC for various roles in the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay on Tuesday inaugurated facilities built at a cost of ₹23.67 crore at the Arulmigu Mariamman Temple in Irukkankudi, Virudhunagar district, aimed at improving amenities for devotees.The newly opened facilities include a tonsure hall, an Annadhanam hall, 24 dining halls and 235 shops selling puja articles. The Annadhanam hall can accommodate 125 devotees at a time, while each dining hall can seat 25 people. The facilities were constructed following requests from devotees, the release said.At the same event, Vijay handed over appointment orders to 80 candidates selected through Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission for posts in Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department: 36 assistant engineers (construction), 38 assistant sthapathis and six executive officers in Grade I and Grade III.Govt said this was the first time HR&CE dept had recruited assistant engineers (construction) and assistant sthapathis through TNPSC selection process.
