Chennai: Chief minister C Joseph Vijay has set a three-month deadline to eradicate corruption in all state departments, said minister and Villivakkam MLA Aadhav Arjuna. There should be no recommendations, commissions or participation by TVK functionaries in tenders, he said.Aadhav Arjuna was speaking to reporters after his first review meeting in Shenoy Nagar on Thursday. He said no cadre should misuse the party’s name. “Files stuck at the Secretariat will be followed up on by me,” he said.Noting that the govt has ordered a crackdown on illegal bars and black market liquor sales, Aadhav Arjuna made it clear that Tasmac outlets should function only according to govt timings. One of the 11 retail liquor outlets in Villivakkam has been shut. Four more will be closed soon, he said. As for loss of livelihood due to the closure of Tasmac outlets, he said, “There are several vacancies in govt jobs. We will ensure no Tasmac employee loses a job.“Asked about leader of opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin’s criticism that Vijay was yet to visit Perambur constituency to thank voters, Aadhav Arjuna said, “The CM has instructed that all MLAs must conduct review meetings in their constituencies and prepare a report. This is our way of thanking people — listening to their issues and taking steps to address them.”He reviewed road projects and stormwater drain projects undertaken by Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), building and public work covering wards 94 to 104. He said adequate toilets, streetlights will be set up, new roads constructed, and steps will be taken to address traffic congestion. He also asked GCC to set up CCTV cameras on every street.“I walked around the constituency to find out what the issues are. Concerns raised by women will be prioritised and steps will be taken to curb drug menace and Tasmac issues,” he said.“Villivakkam does not have a higher secondary school or a college.
