Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed the Balrampur district administration and the police to crack down on illegal conversions and directed them to ensure that no person like Chhangur Baba, accused of carrying out large-scale illegal conversions in the district, emerges again.Carrying out a review of law and order and development works in the district, the CM said that village watchmen should be directed to keep a close watch on any such illegal activities.Meetings of the district monitoring committee should also be held regularly, he said. “All criminals should be punished so that a sense of fear of law prevails among them,” he added. Focusing on preparations for the Navratri Mela, which is to begin from March 19, Yogi said special cleanliness drives should be conducted around temples and religious places during Navratri, and additional sanitation workers should be deployed. He said a large number of devotees were expected to visit the Devipatan Shaktipeeth during the period, and proper arrangements should be ensured for their safety, ‘darshan’, and facilities such as drinking water, cleanliness, power supply, and crowd management.Reviewing preparations to handle law and order situation, Yogi said that anti-Romeo squads should be deployed under every police station area and directed that strict action be taken against criminals, chain snatchers, and other offenders.“Photographs of such people should be displayed at public places and on social media,” he said.The CM also instructed the officials that joint monitoring of border areas should be carried out by the police and the Border Security Force.Discussing implementation of welfare schemes, the CM said that every member of the Tharu tribe and those living in border areas should be included in govt schemes.He directed officials to ensure better coordination between the administration, public representatives, citizens, and various organisations, adding that all officers should hold daily public hearings and ensure timely and quality resolution of public grievances.The CM also reviewed the progress of Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan, CM Yuva Swarozgar Yojana, development of new industrial areas, Jal Jeevan Mission, ongoing construction projects, ring road construction, a 100-bed critical care unit, and construction of an STP in the municipality, drinking water reorganisation schemes in municipal bodies, among other schemes.‘Complete construction work at Balrampur univ’ Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an on-site inspection of the under-construction Maa Pateshwari University in Balrampur, where he said that work should be completed by May.The CM also inspected the Govt Medical College Balrampur and issued necessary directions for completion of works.A govt spokesperson said that the CM first planted a Maulshree sapling on the university campus and then attended a detailed presentation on the university’s development model.He directed vice-chancellor Prof Ravishankar Singh to ensure regular monitoring so that the work could be completed within the stipulated timeline.The CM also inspected the academic building, theatre classroom, laboratories, and other facilities on the university campus.
