Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday directed all deputy commissioners in the state to mandatorily review at least one major complaint received through the ‘Mhari Sadak App’ during public grievance and monthly review meetings to strengthen accountability and improve road maintenance.Chairing a review meeting on the functioning of the app, the chief minister said strict action should be taken against officers and agencies found negligent in resolving complaints. He stressed that the app must become an effective public platform for reporting damaged roads and monitoring repair work. Officials informed the meeting that the second version of the “Mhari Sadak App” was launched in Dec 2025 and that 17 key issues discussed in the Apex Committee meeting held on May 11 were addressed. They further apprised the chief minister that 1,43,065 roads covering around 63,389 kilometres have so far been mapped on the application. The chief minister directed departments to complete geo-tagging of roads with speed and accuracy. Officials said that 31,939 complaints had already been resolved through the app. To increase public participation, Saini directed departments to create greater awareness about the app, especially among taxi drivers associated with aggregator platforms such as Ola and Uber. He also instructed that drivers visiting RTO offices for taxi passing should be encouraged to download the app so they can directly report poor road conditions. Taking serious note of pending complaints, the chief minister ordered action against more than a dozen officers and employees for laxity in work. He warned that contractors failing to repair roads during the Defect Liability Period (DLP) would face confiscation of bank guarantees, while firms defaulting three times would be blacklisted. Saini also directed officials to adopt a short-term tender system to speed up road repair works and ensure that work begins within 10 days of bid submission. He further emphasised special attention to roads in interstate border areas and directed officers to ensure timely maintenance, beautification and completion of road projects before the monsoon season.
