Tamil Nadu CM Vijay has called an alliance meeting in Chennai on September 9 to resolve issues and improve coordination. The government has completed 100 days, but the alliance has been in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Some senior TVK ministers are openly pitching ‘Vijay for PM’ in 2029, with Aadhav Arjuna and MLA Kanimozhi Santhosh backing him. Santhosh has also said Rahul Gandhi would make way for Vijay as the opposition PM candidate from the south.

The remarks did not go down well with Congress, which is part of the government in the state. Tamil Nadu Congress president Manickam Tagore reiterated that Rahul Gandhi will be the PM candidate from the opposition and no one else.
TVK ministers Aadhav Arjuna and N Anand met Tagore after the initial statements and invited him to the alliance meeting on September 9. Tagore has said he will attend the meeting. However, the Left parties, CPI and CPM, have not yet decided whether to attend. The parties did not attend the last alliance meeting in July.
