Taking a jibe at Congress for opposing the name change of the MGNREGA scheme, he said that Congress members who oppose the name change of the scheme in the assembly do not even know when a turban is tied on the head. He said a farmer ties a ‘mundasa’ on his head when carrying goods or weight on his head, or during hot and cold weather. He added that it is neither cold nor hot in the assembly and questioned the rationale behind tying a ‘mundasa’ there. He said that tying a turban does not make anyone a farmer. A person becomes a farmer by working in the field and gaining farming experience. Sharma said that with VB-G Ram G in place, villagers will get employment for 125 days instead of 100 days annually. All work will be done with complete transparency and through modern technology, so that workers’ wages will directly reach their accounts. Permanent assets will be created to strengthen villages’ basic infrastructure. He said shortcomings of MGNREGA have been removed in the new law and it will become a medium to realise the resolve of developed India.
