Ahmedabad: Cricket fever has gripped Ahmedabad with the city hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. At multiple venues in the city, including the Karnavati Club, arrangements have been made for the live telecast of the match, creating a stadium-like atmosphere for members and their guests. Chetan Shah, the president of the club, said, “We have organized a live telecast of the match for our members and their guests at the club on a big screen. We expect around 1,000 people will come together to watch the match and cheer Team India to win T20 World Cup.” Movie theatres across Ahmedabad and neighbouring Gandhinagar are also turning into match venues, responding to strong public demand for large-format viewing. Rahul Dhyani, the president of the Miniplex Association of India said, “In Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, many theatres have organized the live telecast of the match. There is a good demand for watching the match on the big screen. Our company has 24 screens in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar and we will telecast the match on half of the screens at a ticket price in the range of Rs 200-400. We have seen 80% bookings already done.”
