Varanasi: Under the Environmental Awareness Campaign, the 7 UP Naval unit of National Cadet Corps (NCC), BHU organised a cleanliness drive at Assi Ghat on Tuesday.The campaign witnessed active participation from both current NCC cadets and former cadets. During the drive, plastic waste, polythene, and other pollutants were collected and handed over to the municipal corporation for proper disposal.Former cadets shared their experiences with the young cadets and emphasised that the conservation of the Ganga is not only a responsibility but a national duty. The cadets also spread awareness among visitors, urging them to prevent water pollution and adopt a plastic-free lifestyle. Officials from the local administration and representatives of the Namami Gange programme appreciated the joint efforts of the NCC cadets and former cadets. A former cadet said the drive was based on the theme ‘River to New India’, aimed at connecting the younger generation with environmental service while emphasising the importance of water security.
