HISAR: A Class XI student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Pabra village of Hisar district was critically injured after being bitten by a snake inside the girls’ hostel in the early hours of Friday, triggering panic among students and concern among parents.According to officials, the incident occurred around 3 am when the snake allegedly entered the hostel room while the students were asleep and bit the girl. Her screams alerted other students and hostel staff, who rushed to her aid.The student was administered first aid before being shifted to Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha, where she is undergoing treatment. Doctors said her condition remains critical and she is under close observation.School authorities said an inquiry has been initiated to determine how the snake entered the hostel premises and whether there were any lapses in safety arrangements. Officials are also assessing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.The incident has created anxiety among students and their parents, who have demanded regular cleaning of the campus, removal of overgrown vegetation and stronger safeguards against snakes and other venomous creatures, particularly around the hostel area.The school administration said all necessary steps are being taken in view of the seriousness of the incident, while the student’s treatment continues at the Agroha MedicalCollege.
