Gurgaon: A 17-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday at her house in Khoh village, leaving behind a two-page suicide note. Police said no one was home at the time of the incident. The girl’s father, who runs a grocery shop, said he returned home around 1:30pm for lunch and found his daughter dead in her room.The family informed the police and the body was sent for autopsy. The family has alleged harassment as the reason for the suicide. Police said the girl lived in the city with her parents and an elder brother. Her mother teaches at a private school.In the note, the girl, a Class 12 student, expressed her affection for a youth and said she never had any ill intention towards him. She wrote that her feelings for him were genuine, but he constantly doubted her.The girl apologised repeatedly, saying she did not know how to cope with being continuously questioned and looked down upon by the youth she had known for nearly a year, as well as by others. She wrote that she felt misunderstood and did not want people to disrespect her. She also mentioned an incident in which she was allegedly harassed and abused at her tuition class by a friend.Police said they are investigating the case from all angles. They have also contacted the boy mentioned in the note and retrieved chats related to the victim that he shared with his friends. SHO, IMT Manesar police station, said, “We have received a formal complaint and legal action will follow post detailed investigation.”
