Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC has taken disciplinary action against both sides involved in the scuffle involving Chirayinkeezhu MLA Ramya Haridas and local Congress workers.The party state committee suspended Palayam Pradeep, who was accompanying Haridas during the incident, and S Sajadh, a local Congress functionary and the owner of the house where the altercation took place. The action was taken based on the report of the three-member KPCC inquiry committee, which found that both sides committed serious disciplinary violations that brought disrepute to the Congress party in public.KPCC president Sunny Joseph suspended the two from the primary membership of the party based on the findings of the inquiry, said Neyyattinkara Sanal, general secretary in charge of organisation.Meanwhile, the inquiry committee held a meeting at the KPCC headquarters on Sunday. The committee recorded the statements of local Congress functionaries from Chirayinkeezhu, DCC members and those facing allegations, including Sajith Muttappalam and Sajadh. MLA Haridas submitted her explanation to the committee over the phone as she was away in New Delhi. She is likely to meet the committee on Monday.Meanwhile, the MLA’s claim that Pradeep, who was cited as one of the reasons for the dispute, was a member of her personal staff has also come under scrutiny. Most of those who appeared before the inquiry committee reportedly told it that the presence and activities of Pradeep in the constituency had contributed to the dispute.
