In India, tens of thousands of Gen Z protesters have taken to the streets of the capital Delhi and other cities, calling for the resignation of the country’s education minister.

Starting as a satirical online movement just a couple of months ago, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is now one of India’s most visible youth movements.

But what drove the movement? And why is the mascot a cockroach? The BBC’s Anahita Sachdev explains.
