Chandigarh: Civic issues including sanitation, drinking water, roads, streetlights, and housing dominated the fourth Samaadhaan Shivir held at Manimajra on Friday, where residents submitted 83 fresh grievances to UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria.Addressing the public at the community centre near Shivalik Garden, Kataria assured residents that most infrastructure-related complaints would be resolved quickly and instructed officials to expedite all pending cases.Departmental officials recorded the grievances on the spot, resolving several immediately while forwarding others for time-bound action. Kataria disclosed that 19 out of 234 grievances received during previous shivirs remained unresolved, sharing department-wise breakdowns and directing officers to ensure prompt resolution.The administrator emphasised strict accountability and inter-departmental coordination, urging officials to actively monitor complaint resolution rather than simply registering them.Clarifying delays on complex matters, Kataria stated that grievances involving major policy decisions cannot be resolved at the UT level and require approval from the ministry of home affairs (MHA). He urged residents to remain patient while the administration pursues these policy decisions.Kataria encouraged citizens to utilise weekly Janata Darbars at the UT secretariat, confirming that location-based samaadhaan shivirs will continue. He also highlighted UT achievements in education and sports, noting govt school counseling initiatives, student financial aid, and cash awards under the Chandigarh Sports Policy.
