The agenda, finalised after months of physical surveys across the city, will be tabled for detailed discussion and approval during the civic body’s monthly General House meeting on Tuesday.

Chandigarh: In a major push to bolster its revenue, the municipal corporation of Chandigarh has identified 526 public spaces—including toilet blocks, connecting passages, and bicycle docking stations—to generate an estimated ₹102.4 crore by selling advertisement rights.The agenda, finalised after months of physical surveys across the city, will be tabled for detailed discussion and approval during the civic body’s monthly General House meeting on Tuesday.A committee headed by the joint municipal commissioner-III finalised the tender terms and conditions, identifying prime-visibility spots to attract high bidding participation. Under the plan, ad rights for 320 public toilets and 144 connecting passages are valued at approximately ₹76.3 crore, while rights across 62 public bicycle docking stations are pegged at ₹26.1 crore.“The department concerned of the municipal corporation has done physical survey to identify the spaces where the advertisement can be allowed. Since at many places, the visibility was the main issue, therefore, prime visible areas were identified, so that bidders can come in the good number to apply in the tender to take the space,” civic officials told TOI.Under the proposed payment model, the civic body will collect ad fees on a monthly basis. The authority clarified that all permissions will remain valid until tender finalization and must strictly comply with the Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order, 1954.
