Surat: The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) Gujarat is organizing a series of events to promote garment-making in the manmade fabric hub of Surat, starting from Tuesday. These events are being organized in association with the Federation of Surat Trade and Textile Associations Forum, the Institute of Design and Technology and the Gujarat Yoga Board. Over 500 students will participate in the event where garments and textile products will be promoted. A rally will be held at Millennium Market on Ring Road. The rally will showcase the five Fs — Farm, Fibre, Factory, Fashion and Foreign — concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the event on July 5, a national-level conclave will be held on themes such as sustainable fashion, artificial intelligence, the future of the fashion industry and textile innovation. At the conclave, the Gujarat govt, SIDBI, and the Chhattisgarh govt will participate with leading garment brands.“The city has established itself as a leader in MMF, and now attempts are being made to make it a garment hub as well,” said Ajoy Bhattacharya, regional chairman, CMAI.
