Prayagraj: The festival of Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great devotion and religious fervour across Sangam city on Friday. Special pujas, cradle ceremonies, devotional songs, bhajans, kirtans and distribution of prasada marked the occasion at Krishna temples in the city. Devotees kept on chanting ‘Hathi Ghora Palki -Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki’.Special programmes were organised at reserve police lines in Prayagraj, Pratapgarh and Kaushambi districts and attened by huge number of devotees. A fair was also organised in city on the occasion.Elaborate festivities were organised at all prominent Lord Radha Krishna temples in city, where preparations had been underway for the past three days. The temple premises and adjoining roads were decorated with floral arches, garlands, colourful displays and illumination, creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere for devotees.Seers and other religious organisations at a temple in Kydganj said that since Lord Krishna is believed to have been born at midnight, special pujas, cradle rituals and religious ceremonies were performed at midnight on Friday.Interestingly, small kids added colour to the celebrations by dressing up as Krishna, Radha, Yashoda and Gopikas for fancy-dress contests, rangoli competitions and school events. Cultural performances, devotional dances and music programmes enhanced the festive spirit. The festival was celebrated with great fervour at the police lines commissionerate in Prayagraj. A captivating tableau of Lord Krishna and an atmosphere filled with devotion and reverence filled the entire premises with spiritual joy.The police commissioner prayed to Lord Krishna for the happiness, prosperity, peace, and well-being of all the residents of Prayagraj and the police family. Police officers, personnel, and their family members also participated in the prayers.
