Ranchi: The city will host the Durand Cup for the first time, with Group C matches scheduled at Birsa Munda Stadium from Sunday to Aug 16. CM Hemant Soren is expected to inaugurate the tournament.The group comprises Jamshedpur FC, Sporting Club Delhi, Indian Air Force and defending champions Defenders FC of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces. Jamshedpur FC will face Defenders FC in Ranchi’s opening fixture. Matches will also be played in Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong and Imphal.Deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said security and medical arrangements, including ambulances, doctors and medicines, would be in place.

Spectators cannot carry weapons, crackers, large bags, food, alcohol, tobacco products, drones, professional cameras, laptops, high-capacity power banks, air horns, laser pointers or aerosol sprays.Traffic police have designated three parking areas. Vehicles from Khunti, Jamshedpur, Gumla, Lohardaga, Ratu, Pithoria and Kanke will park at Ranchi University ground. Those arriving from Tatisilwai, Khelgaon, Booty More, Bariatu and adjoining areas will use the Tribal Welfare Research Institute ground. Vehicles from Dhurwa, Hinoo, Doranda, Main Road, Lalpur, Harmu and Argora will park at Army ground.VIPs and accredited media may park at Morabadi Parade Ground.
