Vadodara: Tara Misra, a 16-year-old grade 10 student of Navrachana International School, Vadodara, has received a commendation at the 2026 John Locke Essay Competition, earning international recognition for her writing. Tara was shortlisted in the senior category for her essay on the Psychology topic, “Why do we care what happens to our body after death?” She attended the invitation-only gala awards ceremony in London recently.The competition attracted 1,00,227 participants from 191 countries, with the top 17.5% of submissions making it to the shortlist. Commendation recipients are recognised for presenting clear, well-supported arguments.Tara has also been offered a partial scholarship towards tuition fees for a John Locke summer school programme, with options including Oxford, Cambridge, Boston and Princeton among others.Organised by the Oxford and Princeton-based John Locke Institute, the competition invites students aged under 19 to explore challenging questions through essays of up to 1,000 words.
