Lucknow: The monsoon regained strength in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, bringing widespread rainfall to several districts, including the state capital. While Lucknow recorded 46 mm of rainfall by evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said moderate showers over the next 2–3 days will continue.According to the IMD, the monsoon trough shifted towards central Uttar Pradesh, triggering a revival of rain activity across the region. The department predicted widespread rainfall across the state between June 30 and July 1, which is expected to bring down daytime temperatures by 3–4°C, offering temporary relief from the heat.Light to moderate rain was reported in most parts of the state on Sunday, barring a few districts such as Deoria, Baghpat, and Sambhal. Farrukhabad received the highest rainfall at 90 mm.Mohammad Danish, senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, said, “Lucknow received 46 mm of rainfall due to the combined influence of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal and a trough line passing near Ayodhya. This weather pattern is expected to continue for the next three to four days, bringing light to moderate showers in Lucknow and adjoining areas. However, heavy rainfall is likely over the Terai belt on June 30.“
