Groups of devotees started flocking prominent temples since early morning to present offerings to the deity, express their reverence and seek divine blessings. Devotees were also spotted performing the jalabhishek or rudrabhishek and offering curd, milk, honey, panchamruta, bel leaves, flowers and sandalwood paste to the Shivlinga at the temples.Noted religious scholar Dr Amitabh Gour said: “Shrawan Shivratri is a major Hindu festival with deep religious and spiritual meaning. On this day, devotees offer special prayers to Lord Shiv with devotion and purity. They also perform various religious and spiritual activities to appease the Lord. Every year, Shrawan Shivratri is celebrated on Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Shrawan.
