Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday emphasised that the upcoming state budget will truly be a “people’s budget”, shaped by the voices and suggestions of citizens.Speaking at the pre-budget consultation meeting, the CM said, “Our govt is the people’s govt. For us, the voice of the people is the voice of God. That is why the budget-making process moved beyond the secretariat and into the public domain.“

Over 50 experts and representatives from civil society, industry bodies, NGOs and various sectors participated in the consultation. The CM noted that valuable suggestions received through the web portal, emails, SMS and WhatsApp are being carefully studied and incorporated into the budget.Highlighting recent initiatives shaped by public opinion, Majhi cited the Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana, the upcoming Sri Jagannath Darshan programme, and the proposed Cuttack-Bhubaneswar-Paradip-Puri economic corridor. He stressed that policies and schemes are being continuously refined based on citizen feedback.Majhi directed departments to record and examine all suggestions received during the meeting for inclusion in the budget.
