Ranchi: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested the mastermind involved in duping aspirants of the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examinations 2023 in the name of sharing question papers. The exam was conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission in Sept 2024.Additional director general, CID, Manoj Kaushik confirmed the arrest and said, “The accused, Anish Kumar, has been arrested from Patna. He was brought to Ranchi on transit remand and sent to jail on Friday. The law would take its course against the arrested accused.” Sources said Kumar was the main beneficiary of the money collected from aspirants in the name of providing them question papers.

A source said he was changing his destinations ever since the investigation in the case began, but the special investigation team managed to track him. Sources said the CID arrested around one dozen accused in connection with the case and that the entire gang involved in cheating the aspirants was busted. Among those arrested were five Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) constables, and one homeguard and Assam Rifles jawan each. The results of the examination were published in Dec 2025 following the Jharkhand high court order, which was convinced by the CID report stating that no question paper leak took place.Anish Kumar was the main beneficiary of the money collected from aspirants in the name of providing them question papers
