Chikkamagaluru: Chikkamagaluru District Central Cooperative (DCC) Bank is going tech-savvy. Modern technology services like mobile banking, UPI, IMPS and branch micro-ATMs have been implemented across its branches. Now, internet banking service is in progress and will be extended across the district. The bank aims to make business easy for the customers and is thus mulling over adopting new innovations by embracing modern technologies in the future.With the primary intention to serve the customers, the bank is also planning to open more branches. At present, there are 28 branches in the district and there is a plan to open more branches at Kalasapura, Lingadahalli, Mallandur, MC Halli, Cholahiriyur, Gavanahalli or Muggihalli, said the bank president, CT Ravi, who is a BJP MLC.Preliminary work has been started for the same. After RBI permission, new branches will be opened, he added.The bank also gained Rs 6.9 cr profit and stood at the top in the state with 98% recovery and continuous profit for 12 years now.“The bank came into existence in 1955 with an initial share capital of Rs 1,430. Through 129 primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) and 267 other societies — a total of 396 member cooperative societies — it is disbursing agri and non-agri loans. By providing financial services to the last man in society, the bank has been doing excellent business,” he said.In the statutory audit and NABARD inspection for 2025-26, the bank consistently secured ‘A’ grade. By the end of 2025-26, it collected Rs 65.9 crore share capital and mobilised Rs 1,568.53 crore deposits of various types through 2.24 lakh additional shareholders, he said.In 2025-26, govt fixed a target of disbursing Rs 1,017.2 crore crop loan to 75,119 farmers at 0% interest through the district. By March-end 2026, Rs 843.8 crore was disbursed to 54,992 farmers. Priority was given to farmers’ development and a target of Rs 1,009 crore crop loan has been set for 2026-27, he said.
